I tuned in at the time they were talking about healthcare and how these 3 anchors are having a discussion on how it would be a bad idea to pass the reform…. Representing the republicans.. what happened to the democrats having their say?

Until at one point on another camera a lady journalist popped up and they asked her opinion on the matter of expanding medicare where one in four would be able to attain it.. And she thought it would be  a great idea because not only are more people able to stabilize their health but in a way the federal government expands their power in reaching out to help.. and the anchor said “so we are going to be like Canada”… like it was something horrible. And she was a little shocked with a little delayed response “yes… like Canada.”

then i looked up other fox news stories on YouTube and as i was typing the words in all these suggestions popped up..”FOX NEWS RACIST.. FOX NEWS BIAS.. FOX NEWS LIES…”

Interesting, so I’m not the only one who thinks that they are unfair.

Why do people watch this crap? or why do watch any of these news channels.. they are so biased and unfair it kind of seems all useless if you really want to know what is going on..

1-800-GET SLIM was posted on a billboard with this thin caucasian woman… and what caught my attention was that santa hat on her head.. and the little present beside her.

This billboard was advertising the lap band but in a holiday fashion.. what a great present to get for a loved one..

It’s crazy to think that such symbols as santa hats and wrapped presents can affect people into buying more things or finally going for such a deal as a somewhat smaller price for a lap band or any other cosmetic surgery.

TIS’ THE TIME TO RISK IT.. as i looked up statistics on plastic surgery i found out that in 2008 lipo was in the top 5 with 341,144 procedures in the US. And since 2001 300,000 lap-band procedures have been made stated in an article titled “Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding In 2000 Consecutive Obese Patients: 12-Year Results”.

Why does this commercial holiday have to repeat itself?… I asked my father and his input was”because these are the days businesses try to make up for the money lost throughout the year, and if succesful they could last another year in hopes of a succesful holiday season yet again.”..

Why does he have to be black? I guess its saying to all the underdogs in this country that yay we have a chance to have a degree “look you don’t have to be white..” and it is also interesting that it is only located in certain parts of LA..

This makes me a little mad in a way by how it was presented.. I mean instead of one black male why not a group of different races in a graduation gown… it’s a bit racist.

I know this is to catch the attention of the minorities but I wish it would look a little more equal by adding other kinds of people even women..

Maybe I’m just offended because most billboards and advertisement only include african american males and caucasian people… and i’m a hispanic female.

It was saying how at different points of people’s lives they question their existence.. I thought it was another depression commercial but at the end of it all they said if you have any questions go to chat.mormon.org and they will give you the answers..

It’s funny to think that they are so sure about what they believe in that they created a commercial to reach out to those who are “confused” about what is really out there.

As I looked up the site another one popped out about it, where they discussed what they went through to finally chat with a mormon.

1. fill out a form with all your info

2. wait till a call connects to a mormon

3. ask a machine voice your question or get transferred again…

What dedication.

But why are religions commercializing their beliefs? there have always been Christian, Catholic, and Presbyterian commercials but this is the first I’ve ever seen a Mormon one..

But as I searched deeper I found that Mormon commercials have been found as far back as the 1970′s..

Is this how we chose what to believe in? whoever had the best commercial got a new follower?…

Goes to show even religion is a business…

1980′s mormon commercial

there were about four or five assistants walking with a boss, and they were discussing why the competing eyeglass company was doing better.. and out of all the assistants there was one woman. and this woman used her att phone to get the answers which is then that the boss selects her out of all the men to “tell him more”.

It was interesting to see that in the commercial the one woman was selected as the primary assistant. not being a feminist or anything but… “women power!”

Looking back to older commercials, it was mostly consisted of men especially in business scenarios… so seeing this it really caught my attention to what was going on… and made me happy that she was picked.

This week at SMC there was a long line that circled around the school, and these people were waiting for the chance to get vaccinated for the “swine flu”…. I was walking with a friend trying to figure out how to get through the line to our cars when he said: “Have you gotten the shot?”.

“H1N1 vaccine? no” I told him… Then he told me the reason why I shouldn’t get it. The 1 in a million chance of getting “Dystonia” a rare disorder where the body spasms and the only way is to walk backwards….

THIS HAPPENED TO ONE PERSON.

The next day in communications class the topic was brought up again.. everyone is scared of the shot because of one person. the media blew the whole story up as usual by playing with fear.

And a point was made By the teacher when he said was it the government who played this story for us… You know so people will stop asking for the shot because of the shortage of medicine???

Honestly I don’t think so, sadly i think that would be too smart of a move for the government to come up with.. I just have a feeling that this was a story searched to sell..

Basically it was saying that your life depends on a cell phone to keep “connected” …

I remember a conversation I had with my father, and texting became the topic. He was telling a story on how he was hosting a meeting at work and half the coworkers there were texting under the table and not paying attention although he asked before hand that everyone turn off their phones.. Is this the only way we communicate to each other?? I mean no one talks on the phone anymore, and their excuse is that they don’t have much to say.. but I feel like so much time is wasted on “lol’s” “jk’s” and “=D”..

There is a lack in communication skills in this generation.. and the cell phone companies aren’t helping by advertising “unlimited texting” with upgraded texting pad phones. I see people texting 24/7 and checking their phone for texts 24/7… why can’t we just sit and listen to whatever is going on and … talk? Raise your hand for once, I’m sure that happy face will still be there after class or a meeting.

Talking to people around school or work is like texting because all their words are shortened to “omg” and “jk”.. I wonder if they could talk at all. Speech classes and communication classes are a requirement in schools, trying to break people’s shells for the real world. We must know how to get our point across…

It would be funny if before you became acquainted with a future boyfriend/friend you ask what plan they have.. because if they have Verizon and you have at&t then your convos will be in full texts spread throughout the day.. I don’t know about you but I like to keep it short and a phone call is so much easier.

I know this commercial shows cell phones in a positive light.. but it is sad that even they know we can’t live life without them.. it would be like throwing a domestic dog into the forests of Peru.

It’s nice that they are trying to reach out to save water, but shouldn’t they start with people and their messed up sprinklers who tend to water the sidewalk and miss the grass, or people who use an excess amount of water for baths that go cold then using more hot water just to heat it up again…. or even people who by water bottles and don’t even finish drinking them…????

So as you can tell I was just… mad. and not because they want to conserve water but because I felt that they should focus on all those other situations as well.. and they do but not so aggressively or as outspoken as these cute displays on our table.

There are regulations about the amount of water people use but what they don’t notice is how much of that water goes to waste , like for example the water on the sidewalk instead of the plants, and the broken water fountains at the recreational parks.. I mean it was broken for almost a year now and no one has bothered to fix it.

But I guess it would get too complicated on regulating on how people use their water.. and if there was a way to do that not only would they be able to conserve water but create more jobs as well because it would take a lot more people to regulate a city full of broken sprinklers and the such.

so seeing a flashing you on this billboard really made me realize that “yeah we are narcissists” . I mean everyone is so competitive and selfish when it comes to everything.. EVERYTHING..

But the thing is I’ve grown up with these people, seen them change and become so self focused from day one.. when MySpace first came out I was in middle school and kids were bragging on how many friends they attained on MySpace and whoever had the most was considered the coolest… haha I only had Tom, never got into it.

Here are some tips you could use if you’re feeling a bit.. “stressed” as they put it. Surround yourself with friends and families, try not to push people away, and start doing more outside activities possibly involving sports..

Hmm well very very interesting… isn’t that what people should do in the first place? I mean i’ve traveled to other countries which were all third world… and they do that. They are like a huge family, I mean they know the whole city and gossip about everyone and all the kids play soccer and what not… so it is ironic how now that the US is “failing” we are going to the happy third world days before Americans distanced themselves and focused on electronics..

So as I see it we need a crisis in order for people now-a-days to come together.. how self-centered we are.
